Fender Roller Rental

Fender rolling is something that anyone, with a little patience and finesse, can conquer. The key to having good results is making sure that the correct prep work is done and the correct tools are used. Here are some things that you need to make sure you have done before you even start to roll the fenders.
–Have the vehicle securely in the air with jack stands underneath.
–Remove plastic molding (if applicable) from the fender lip along with all plastic inserts.
–Clean all debris from the inside of the fender lip.
–Have the wheels that you’re not working on chocked.

After you’ve done these things, it’s time to get to rolling the fenders. Heating the fender lip is what is going to get you a smooth fender roll with no paint cracking. Always bolt the fender rolling into position before you start to heat so that you will not waste any time between heat and the actual fender rolling. You will want to heat the fender nice and slow. If you imagine the wheel well being part of a clock, I usually heat and roll from 9 o’clock to 3 o’clock. If you start to see the paint bubbling up, that is an indication that there is some bondo under the paint and at this point you should evaluate whether or not to continue. You will know you have enough heat when you can feel the heat on the side of the fender lip with your hands. Don’t burn yourself but make sure it’s hot to the touch. That’s when you know that the heat has fully penetrated the paint and fender and is good for fender rolling.

Once the fender rolling starts, you will want to start the fender roll at a 45-60 degree angle. Start with very little pressure. Go back and forth across the fender and start the roll. You will go little by little until you’ve gotten the roll completely flat. Don’t be afraid to take your time and apply heat between adjustments. It is best to take your time rather than rush the job with bad results.

Some cars, no matter how much you try, will not get their fender lips to roll completely flat. That’s okay. You want to get as smooth as you can get so that you will not rub. Don’t worry if your fender lip isn’t as smooth as a friends’ car because his car might just roll differently.
